Report: Saints Sign Third-Round Pick Kendre Miller
USA TODAY Sports

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports that the New Orleans Saints have officially signed rookie RB Kendre Miller on Friday. Miller is the first of seven New Orleans draft picks to agree to a contract.

A third-round choice out of TCU, Miller was the 71st overall selection and the fourth running back chosen. He's the highest running back drafted by the Saints since Alvin Kamara was selected in the third round (67th overall) in 2017.

Miller had 2,410 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns in three years at TCU. In 2022, he led the national runner-up Horned Frogs with 1,399 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns. He was third in the Big 12 conference in rushing yards and second in touchdowns.

Miller, who turns 21 in June, will share backfield duties with Kamara and offseason free-agent addition Jamaal Williams. Kamara led the Saints with 897 yards on the ground last year, but is also facing at least a six-game league suspension because of legal issues. Williams, 27, is coming off a career-best 1,066 yards and league-high 17 touchdowns with Detroit

The Saints ranked 19th in rushing production in 2022. Kamara ranks third in franchise history in rushing yardage and second in rushing touchdowns. New Orleans has not had a 1,000-yard rusher since Mark Ingram accomplished the feat in 2017.
