Timberwolves Dominate Nuggets In Game 2 Without Rudy Gobert

The Minnesota Timberwolves showcased their resilience and depth in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals, overcoming the absence of starting center and likely NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert, due to the birth of his child.

“When you don’t got the Defensive Player of the Year, you gotta step your game up,” Karl-Anthony Towns said, acknowledging the challenge of playing without Gobert. “We understood the challenge. We just wanted to come here and find a way to win the game.”

“It worked in our favor tonight. We made shots, they didn’t. We need to be ready to take their punch.”

Edwards also emphasized the importance of being proactive, rather than just reacting to the Nuggets’ attacks. “When we huddle up, I tell the team that we’re not just going to take their punch – we’re going to punch too. They’re not the only ones who can come out swinging. Whether we’re up 3-0 or 2-2, we’ll come out punching too. So, they need to be ready to take our punch, and we’ll be ready to take theirs.”

The Timberwolves’ dominant performance was a testament to their ability to adapt and overcome adversity. Despite Gobert’s absence, they found ways to exploit the Nuggets’ weaknesses and capitalize on their own strengths.
